Amsterdam man charged after displaying weapons in fight

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Amsterdam man has been charged after a reported fight where weapons were displayed. It took place shortly before 6 p.m. on May 22 on Union Street in the city of Amsterdam.

When police arrived on scene, they said Antonio Padilla was aggressively driving a pickup truck and backing up on Mcdonnell Street onto the yard at 79 Union St. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and Padilla complied.

According to police, the 43-year-old was in an argument with another person where he’s accused of punching the victim and displaying a knife. He also reportedly grabbed a metal pipe out of his truck and ran after the victim. He then got into his truck, backed up at a high rate of speed, and struck a fireplace on Union Street.

Padilla was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, and several traffic infractions…
