COLONIE — A new restaurant called Mulligan’s Irish Pub is being developed in the former Jessica Stone’s Bar & Grill on Route 9 in Latham by the owner of the nearby Philly Bar & Lounge.
Rocky Patel, who opened Philly Bar in 2004, said Tuesday he is leasing 738 New Loudon Road for Mulligan’s. Because the building, which was Jessica Stone’s for at least 40 years, must be gut-renovated, he doesn’t expect Mulligan’s Irish Pub to open until late summer or early fall. It is unclear when Jessica Stone’s opened; the first mention of it in the Times Union’s archives was in 1988, but an online listing from the marketing company Manta says it was founded a decade earlier. It shares the building with a Capital OTB outlet.
The Irish concept was conceived by Tarah LaFalce, general manager of Philly, who convinced Patel it would be a good fit after Jessica Stone’s closed last fall. The name, recognizably Irish, also is the golfing term for a do-over and alludes to a new identity for the space, Patel said…
