SCHENECTADY, NY (WRGB) — A Schenectady man will serve seven years in prison after he pled guilty to a weapons charge in Schenectady County Court.
On July 30, 2026, Julio Duran, 25, pled guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony. Duran pled guilty to knowingly possessing a loaded firearm, a Ruger 9mm pistol, outside of his home or place of business, in the City and County of Schenectady, New York, on May 27, 2026.
Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on May 27, 2026, at the Steinmetz Homes in the City of Schenectady, Duran approached a woman, who was well known to him, and her friend and began to argue with them. Duran menaced the women with a handgun before fleeing the area, at which point one of the women called 911. Schenectady Police Officers responded to the call and began to search for Duran. A Schenectady Police Officer deployed the department drone to the incident location and quickly located the suspect fleeing the area. The drone pilot provided responding officers with the suspect’s location from above and observed the suspect attempting to hide in a backyard. The officer operating the drone directed other responding officers to the location where Duran was hiding. Duran had removed his jacket and attempted to hide it, but officers located and recovered the jacket he had been wearing along with the loaded Ruger 9mm pistol, that was in one of the jacket’s pockets…
