Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — A joint investigation into reported welfare fraud in Montgomery County has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Amsterdam woman accused of improperly receiving thousands of dollars in SNAP benefits.
27-year-old Paola Montalvo of Amsterdam, was arrested May 4, 2026, following an investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, the Department of Social Services and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators say Montalvo failed to report all people residing in her household, as well as all income being earned. Authorities said that as a result of not reporting all income earned within the household, Montalvo received a total of $7,342 in SNAP benefits she was not entitled to…
