ValleyCats continue ‘positive conversations’ about new stadium lease

TROY — The Tri-City ValleyCats are having “ongoing, positive conversations” with Hudson Valley Community College and Rensselaer County about a new lease and renovations at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, a team official said.

The ValleyCats of the independent Frontier League are entering the final year of their lease as they begin their 24th season of professional baseball. They opened Friday night at the New Jersey Jackals and make their home debut next Friday against the Quebec Capitales at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

“I think there’s momentum to finalize a lease and a plan and hopefully in the not-too-distant future we’ll have a more formal update,” ValleyCats vice president and general manager Matt Callahan said during the team’s media day on Thursday…
