Judge to issue arrest warrant for suspected Flock camera vandal in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – After a bizarre scene in court on Monday, a judge said she will issue an arrest warrant for the man accused of vandalizing license plate readers in Rio Rancho, but he says he has no intention to stop his actions. Jevon Martinez, 44, is facing larceny, property damage, and tampering with evidence charges after police said he destroyed three Flock cameras, costing Rio Rancho thousands of dollars in damage. They said he replaced the cameras with a sign saying “You’re welcome, Republic of New Mexico.”

When asked if he planned to continue taking down the cameras, he said, “Absolutely. No absolutely. They are a clear and present threat to public safety.”

Martinez showed up to court on Monday, but he refused to identify himself during the proceedings. The judge considered that as failing to appear in court, but Martinez claimed he exercised his right to remain silent. “You know, you call me. I am here. I’m right here. I stood up. I walked up there. She wanted my name, but I have a right not to bear testimony against myself. Giving my name consults as testimony, and so I chose to remain silent,” said Martinez…
