ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Albuquerque police issued an Amber Alert for 6-year-old Amadeo Esquibel after saying he was last seen Sept. 18 leaving the area of San Isidro NW and McDonald Road NW with his grandmother. Authorities asked the public for help locating the boy, who may be in a black 2024 Ford Escape with New Mexico license plate BZRL27.
Police said Marie Esquibel picked him up in the SUV. Investigators also said a male could be with them. Anyone who sees Amadeo is urged to contact the Albuquerque Police Missing Persons Unit right away at (505) 242-2677.
What police said about the boy and the vehicle
Investigators described Amadeo as 3-foot-5 and 60 pounds. Police said he has brown hair and brown eyes. Those details were released as part of the alert to help residents identify him quickly if they spot the vehicle or the child.
The black Ford Escape is a 2024 model, and the license plate number provided by police is BZRL27. Authorities have not said where the vehicle may have traveled after leaving the northwest Albuquerque area. The alert focused on getting the information out quickly to anyone who may have seen the SUV.
