RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Lomas Encantadas is a quiet neighborhood in north Rio Rancho that could soon become home to 55 high-end apartments, but not everything is going smoothly, with some neighbors pushing back. “They found the piece of property; they thought that they could use it for what they wanted, and I don’t think they thought that there would be as much blowback from the people who live here as there was,” said Meg McNulty, a Lomas Encantadas resident.

In July, Rio Rancho city council approved selling a half acre of undeveloped park land to PG Properties, who wants to build a three-story complex, with first-floor retail. But first, the city needs to change the zoning plan.
But some neighbors disagree, urging the city to deny the project, like Meg McNulty, who lives nearby. “If you wanted to expand the park to add maybe basketball courts, or it’s got a pickleball court, or other things people would use, I’m not sure there would be space to do that anymore.”…
