RRPS participates in statewide ‘Be Here Day’

RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho Public Schools almost had a 100% student attendance rate Wednesday, April 8, when it joined in a statewide effort to stop chronic absenteeism.

RRPS reported that 99.52% of students attended school on April 8, otherwise known as “Be Here New Mexico Day,” an endeavor organized by the New Mexico Public Education Department.

“We attribute our consistently strong attendance rates to our intentional focus on ensuring every student feels welcomed, safe and supported at each of our schools,” Miriah Affentranger, RRPS’s director of counseling, said in a statement. “By fostering a positive school climate and offering high-quality academic, extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities, we create environments where students are engaged, connected and eager to attend.”…
