ABQ Animal Welfare Department opening appointments for cat spay, neuter surgery

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Cat owners who are looking to get their furry friends spayed or neutered will be able to do so for a low cost in Albuquerque on Wednesday.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering 100 spay/neuter surgery reservations for cats that belong to Albuquerque residents.

Bernalillo County CARE Campus expands withdrawal management program

Cats must weigh at least three pounds, and pet owners may make appointments for up to four cats. A surcharge of $10 per cat will apply and must be paid at the time of surgery.

The Animal Welfare Department is offering the surgeries to prevent unwanted feline pregnancies during the spring “kitten season,” which is when shelters receive the largest influx of unwanted litters…
