ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Metropolitan Detention Center announced that 36-year-old Julian Wilgress has died while in custody. Wilgress was booked into MDC on Monday. According to officials, a medical emergency code was called just after 1 p.m., a team responded, but Wilgress was declared dead at 1:49 p.m.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating his death. Cause of death will be determined by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
