RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho Public Schools must realign its budget for the upcoming school year to close the gap between revenues and expenditures, the school district’s top finance officer said Monday.
Mike Baker, chief operations officer, told members of the RRPS Board of Education that declining enrollment and expansion of programs led to the gap and the approach of dealing with it through use of fund balances in recent years is no longer sustainable.
