Apple Watch fall detector calls first responders after ABQ roof collapse

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — APD is highlighting a call they got from an Apple watch “Fall Detection” notification that turned a silent emergency into a rapid response. Newer models have a detection feature that tracks when a person has a hard fall and whether they remain still after.

If there’s no movement for 30 seconds, it automatically calls 911 and emergency contacts.
