[1] State rests case in trial for former teacher accused of raping teen – The prosecutors in the case against a former Albuquerque teacher accused of raping a student have concluded their arguments. Patrick Corr is accused of buying alcohol for two teens, who were 17 and 16 at the time, taking them to his home and raping the older teen. According to prosecutors, the next day Corr told the girls to stay quiet. Thursday, an expert witness for the state told jurors that these actions are signs of grooming. The defense is set to start presenting its case today.

[2] Four accused of stealing copper wire from Lea County oil fields -Lea County deputies were called in September after copper wire was stolen from 12 transformers at six oil rigs. A worker reported seeing a van in the area, which deputies believe was the same van used in other thefts in the region. Deputies used the van’s license plate to link four people to the crimes. When they served a search warrant on the van, 1,500 pounds of copper wire and tools associated with the thefts were found. In total, almost $85,000 worth of goods were stolen from various oil drilling sites across Lea County, causing approximately $285,000 in damages.

[3] Warmer weather for Mother’s Day weekend with spotty rain – The warming trend will continue Friday and Saturday.
