Former D.C. Police Officer From Hyattsville Convicted In Covid Relief Fraud Case

WASHINGTON — A former Metropolitan Police Department officer living in Hyattsville was convicted Monday in federal court after prosecutors said he fraudulently obtained more than $18,000 in taxpayer-funded Covid-era disaster relief funds.

Roberto Adams, 39, was found guilty June 8, 2026, of one count of wire fraud after a federal jury deliberated for about a day and a half, according to federal prosecutors.
