U Street partially closed as Ben’s Chili Bowl reopens

WASHINGTON — Ben’s Chili Bowl is finally reopening its iconic U Street doors after nine months of renovations Friday. For the big event, there is a road closure and parking restrictions.

From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, U Street Northwest between 13th and 12th streets will be closed. No parking is allowed on that street as well, police said.

Live Go-Go music will start at 11 a.m. with Sirius Company Band. The grand reopening will begin with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:45 a.m. with the founding Ali family. Music will continue from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m…
