WASHINGTON — After eight days of deadlocked deliberations and a short break, a judge has granted a mistrial in the case against a man accused of shooting and killing a Kentucky teacher on the campus of Catholic University in Northeast D.C.
On Monday, the judge granted a mistrial on charges against Jaime Macedo, including first-degree murder while armed, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The 11-person jury could only a verdict on one charge: that Macedo was guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
