A diehard flathead catfish angler, Laura Yeates tried a half-dozen or more different brands and types of hooks designed to handle the large, hard-fighting fish before she landed on one that she really liked and felt comfortable recommending to others.
The Bethlehem resident, who is well-known locally as the Flathead Queen, has now taken those offset circle hooks and offers them through her own white-labeled brand — FHQ — a nod to her moniker.
“If it works for me, it’ll work for other people as well,” Yeates said. “I want to be able to give people tackle they can trust, is affordable, reliable and gives them the best shot at landing those big flatheads.”…
