Marietta woman charged in DUI hit-and-run

Shelbyann Dee Wells, 65, of Marietta, faces multiple charges after police say she drove under the influence, ran a red light and caused a hit-and-run crash May 2 at the intersection of Powder Springs and Oxford roads in Marietta.

According to a Cobb County Police Department, Wells is accused of operating a gray Nissan Kicks while under the influence of alcohol at 8 p.m. Wells ran the red light at the intersection and collided with another vehicle. After the collision, she fled the scene without exchanging information or speaking to police responding to the scene.

When Wells was located, police could smell alcohol on her breath and she had blood shot watery eyes. She told police that she had one margarita before driving. Police found inside her vehicle a gold vape with a yellow liquid substance suspected to be THC and a gold flask containing alcohol that was about three quarters full, according to the warrant…
