Amarillo City Council discusses utility billing system, data center moratorium, Mayor Pro Tempore rules in Tuesday meeting

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo City Council is expected to hold a regular meeting Tuesday afternoon, in which officials will discuss items including updates on a review of the utility billing system, a large scale data and AI center moratorium, a possible change to the rules for appointing a Mayor Pro Tempore, and the acceptance of a United Way Community Impact Grant Award for the Coming Home program.

The Amarillo City Council meeting will technically begin with an executive session at 1 p.m., according to the agenda, which will include discussing the possible purchase of property in Southwest Amarillo, as well as multiple discussions of “commercial or financial information” and business deliberations, alongside ongoing projects.

The regular Amarillo City Council meeting is expected to begin at 3 p.m., with sign-up for public comment available online here, by calling the City Secretary’s office at 806-378-3014, or in person at least 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting start time.

According to the published agenda, the Amarillo City Council will discuss or receive reports on items including an update on the city’s utility billing system, the Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department, budget amendments, and a “large scale data and AI center moratorium.”…
