Amarillo VA Health Care System receives five-star CMS rating

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Amarillo VA Health Care System announced that it received a five-star rating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating report, stating this as an improvement from last year’s four-star rating.

CMS’ Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings are based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, re-admission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. The higher rating out of five indicates better performance along these quality measures.

According to officials, 78% of VA hospitals nationwide that received an Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating received a rating of four or five stars in 2026.
