Community picnic highlights Pleasant Valley revitalization efforts

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Families gathered Saturday for the first Pleasant Valley Park Community Picnic and Care Fair, an event aimed at bringing neighbors together while supporting ongoing efforts to revitalize the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.

The event featured free food, snow cones, backpacks, school supplies, and community resources for families. It also celebrated the neighborhood’s new mural at 4607 River Road, a project led by the Pleasant Valley River Road Revitalization Group.

Volunteer Chair Hope McCoy said the event was created to allow residents to reconnect and show that Pleasant Valley is a strong community.

“Nothing ever happens over here in this area,” McCoy said. “As a revitalization group, we came together to start making things happen out here in our neighborhood.”…
