AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo ISD is launching a new childcare option to ease a major challenge for working parents and help the district keep teachers and staff in classrooms.
The district will offer affordable daycare for full-time employees, a move AISD Early Childhood Director Brittany Hinz said is designed to support retention and recruitment.
“Our goal is we want to serve high-quality care for children, but we also want to keep our staff,” Hinz said. “And then we want to get new staff. It’s so important to us that we have teachers in our classrooms for our kids. And so that’s a really big priority in this program as well, is that we’re using it as a benefit to them so that we can hopefully provide them something that allows them to come back to work or to stay working with us when they have children.”…
