AMARILLO, Texas. (KVII)—A simple goal to mark America’s 250th anniversary has turned into a bigger cleanup effort in Amarillo, where one local nonprofit founder has already surpassed his target and is pushing for even more community help.
Babji Yalamanchili, founder of Keep Amarillo Clean, set out with an idea tied to “250 bags for 250 years of America.” Six months ago, he decided he wanted to celebrate the country in a hands-on way by picking up trash.
“That’s why you know. Keep America Beautiful is saying everybody can pick up, 25 pieces of trash. I said I can do much better than that. You know, so that’s why I started this whole thing,” Yalamanchili said…
