Woman pleads guilty to embezzling from City of Amarillo homeless program

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An Amarillo woman pleaded guilty this week to embezzling funds from a federal program that were intended to help those experiencing homelessness.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 41-year-old Selene Varela pleaded guilty May 18 to a felony information charging theft concerning a program receiving federal funds.
