Danny Masterson Denied Bail Due to Being a Flight Risk: Report

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo wrote that the ‘That ’70s Show’ alum and convicted rapist has ‘every incentive to flee’

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has denied convicted rapist and That ’70s Show alum Danny Masterson bail after determining that he is a flight risk with “every incentive to flee.”

In a court order obtained by Deadline , Judge Charlaine Olmedo — who also presided over both of Masterson’s rape trials — wrote: “If defendant’s conviction and sentence are upheld on appeal, he will likely remain in custody for decades and perhaps the rest of his life.”

Masterson is currently serving a 30-year-to-life sentence after being found guilty of two counts of forcible rape by a jury last June and receiving his conviction in September 2023 . Masterson is incarcerated in North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif. ( along with Tory Lanez ), and will be eligible for parole in 20 years.

“In light of the fact that defendant has no wife to go home to,” Olmedo added in the court order — referencing the ongoing divorce proceedings between Masterson and wife Bijou Phillips — “[the] defendant now has every incentive to flee and little reason to return to state prison to serve out the remainder of his lengthy sentence should his appeal be unsuccessful.”
