ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Anchorage School District began planning for the upcoming school year in January, and visitors to some campuses this fall will notice changes at the front door.
Jared Woody, ASD emergency management senior director, said more schools are receiving upgrades this year, including a new electronic fob system.
“That enables us to maintain our doors being locked 100% of the time so people can’t come in unless they have that fob,” Woody said.
How the entry process works
Schools equipped with secure vestibules require visitors to press a call office button at the entrance. The front desk receives a video image of the visitor before unlocking the outer door.
