ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage jurors heard from additional witnesses Wednesday in the trial of Mario Jackson, a day after a jury was seated in the case tied to the Oct. 17, 2025 shooting deaths of two people near the American Red Cross building downtown.
Prosecutor Betsy Bull and defense attorney Chong Yim delivered their opening statements Tuesday. Court resumed Wednesday with more testimony, including witnesses describing what they say they saw and how investigators tracked down a bike and other evidence after the shooting.
What Jackson is charged with
Jackson, 36, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder in connection with the killings, according to charging documents.
What police say happened
Anchorage police have said officers were dispatched to reports of gunfire at about 8:20 p.m. and found both victims dead in an alcove near the Red Cross building, outside an apartment building on East 7th Avenue.
