Vehicle crashes into Wasilla Police Department lobby, driver in custody

WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – A driver slammed a vehicle into the lobby of the Wasilla Police Department just before 5 p.m., crashing through the building’s front doors, police said.

Officers and Alaska State Troopers were already on scene and removed the driver from the vehicle without further incident, according to a department release. Medics evaluated the driver, who had minor injuries, and officers took the person into custody as the investigation began.

One member of the public was inside the lobby at the time and was not hurt, police said.

Police evacuated the department and nearby high school ball fields as a precaution while officers investigated the vehicle. Specialized units from Anchorage were expected to respond to ensure the area was safe, the department said…
