TxDOT to discontinue Heartland Flyer route, severing connection between North Texas and Oklahoma City

FORT WORTH, Texas — The only daily train connecting North Texas and Oklahoma City will be discontinued in 90 days, according to a notice from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Heartland Flyer, a 206-mile route connecting Fort Worth and Oklahoma City, has been in peril for months after the Texas and Oklahoma legislatures declined to include funding for the route in their budgets.
