THORNTON, CO — Thornton police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead after officers found gunshot wounds inside a Jeep SUV on Friday morning. The vehicle was discovered after dispatchers got a report at about 4:35 a.m. that an SUV had crashed into a pole at Colorado Boulevard and East 100th Avenue.
Police said a man was found dead inside the vehicle, while a woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died several hours later. Investigators have not said what led up to the shooting or the crash.
Crash Scene Closed Roads
Colorado Boulevard was shut down between East 100th Avenue and Thornton Parkway for several hours while detectives worked the scene. The road reopened just after 10:30 a.m., and drivers were urged to find another route during the closure.
