19-year-old arrested in connection with deadly I-25 hit-and-run

DENVER (KDVR) — An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash on Interstate 25 over the weekend, police said.

The Greenwood Village Police Department announced that 19-year-old Luis Enrique-Pena of Westminster was arrested on Thursday for numerous charges:

  • Vehicular homicide — reckless driving
  • Hit-and-run — involving serious injury or death
  • Driving with a revoked license

The crash was reported just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, when officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-25. Officers found a man unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.

The suspect driver, now identified as Enrique-Pena, fled before police arrived, and the crash scene prompted the northbound lanes of I-25 to close until around 8 a.m…
