DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver cleaner that has served customers for generations is trying to figure out what comes next after a fire damaged the business and affected thousands of garments.
19-year-old arrested in connection with deadly I-25 hit-and-run
Moore Cleaners’ Downing and Evans location has been shut down since the fire on August 26.
The business is now boarded up, with caution tape surrounding the building. Owner Brian Destarac said he received a call around 4 a.m. telling him the building was on fire.
“An alarm or something went off. They told me they were the Denver Fire Department and “if you’re the property owner, your building is on fire at Downing and Evans and we need to know how quickly you can get here,'” Destarac said.
Destarac said the fire caused the roof to begin collapsing, damaging about 3,000 garments inside.
“The roof started to collapse; all the garments in the back had been affected,” Destarac said.
While the building sustained significant damage, Destarac said his focus is also on the people who work there and the customers affected by the fire…
