Right now, gas is expensive in Colorado, as it is pretty much everywhere else in the United States. Imagine spending your hard-earned money on a full tank of gas, only for a thief to steal it all.
Colorado Drivers Warned About Gas Tank Thefts
To add insult to injury, you’re going to have to replace the gas tank because that thief damaged it. If this situation sounds a little hard to believe, well, buckle up, because this is happening right here in Colorado.
According to CBS News, cases are being reported in Colorado of thieves drilling holes in vehicle gas tanks to steal gas from parked cars. The reported thefts have been isolated to the Denver metro area city of Englewood.
The Englewood Police Department confirmed that at least two reports of vehicle gas tanks being drilled in recent days in the area of South Galapago Street and West Cornell Avenue, and another incident, just a few blocks away.
CBS News interviewed Jason Colson, owner of Autolab Englewood, located off of Broadway. Colson says that many of his customers have been victims of gas tank theft by use of a drill over the past six months.
