Man arrested in Bakersfield for impersonating police officer with red & blue lights in SUV

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was arrested for impersonating an officer after police say he allegedly used flashing red and blue lights in a black GM Yukon to pull over a driver.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, officers arrested 40-year-old Nicholas Leyva for impersonating a peace officer in the 200 block of South Union Avenue.

Police said at around 8:45 a.m., BPD officers responded to a call for service when the victim was pulled over by a person driving a black SUV with flashing red and blue interior lights…
