Trial postponed for suspect accused of rape in Madison Brooks case

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge judge has postponed the trial for a 21-year-old man facing rape charges in the Madison Brooks case.

According to court documents, the trial for Desmond Carter, originally set to begin Monday, Aug. 17, has been delayed after a motion hearing was scheduled for Sept. 17.

Carter was indicted in 2023 for first-degree rape and third-degree rape.
