Father of Denham Springs 11-year-old battling cancer says she has months to live after tumor progresses

DENHAM SPRINGS — The father of a Denham Springs 11-year-old girl battling brain cancer says her tumor has progressed.

Katie Tanton has between one and four months to live following the tumor’s progression, her father, Austin Tanton, told WBRZ on Wednesday.

The family’s life was upended following her diagnosis. They had to move out of the state and, earlier this month, slept outside to save money for Katie’s treatment for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare form of brain tumor that has been causing swelling in her brain…
