BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Birmingham is asking residents to weigh in as it considers creating clearer rules for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
City leaders say ADUs already exist in neighborhoods across Birmingham, especially in historic areas, but current zoning does not allow them in every residential district. The city’s Planning Division is exploring a possible ADU ordinance that would set consistent standards for where ADUs could be built and how they would operate.
