BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — According to the Birmingham Police Department, they have received numerous calls over the span of a year regarding incidents near the nightclub of Nana Funks in Birmingham’s Lakeview District.
On Tuesday, Nana Funks CFO and General Manager Keri White stood before the Birmingham Public Safety Committee to hear concerns and state their case to keep their business license. White stated that some calls cited were not for inside their establishment and ensuring they follow a safety plan.
“We did hire three off-duty patrol, like the community did, and we pay them every weekend to patrol the area to help with that, and things have significantly gotten better since we’ve done that., And, in addition, Nana Funks pays for an extra hour between 3-4 a.m. for a cop to stay for an extra hour to help deter that kind of stuff,” said White…
