Map shows ‘snowmageddon’ blizzard to dump 12 inches of snow on New York and Boston

A massive “snowmageddon” is set to hit the Northeast, with major cities like New York City and Boston directly in its path. The snowstorm could dump up to 12 inches of snow from New York to Massachusetts on Tuesday.

Schools are closing in anticipation of the blizzard. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has warned that six to eight inches of snow is expected in the city after a weekend of unusually warm weather .

Some forecasters have warned of a chance of bombogenesis, where cold air collides with warm molecules, also known as a “bomb cyclone.” This storm has been dubbed “snowmageddon” by forecasters.

AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Rinde said: “Winter will return with a vengeance as the storm moves along a push of colder air that will set the stage for more typical conditions for the middle and latter part of February.”
