DENVER (KDVR) – The city of Lafayette is still working to contact the numerous families who own burial plots at the city’s historic cemetery.
Back in June, the city lifted a long moratorium on burials at the cemetery, after finding overlapping human remains in 2025. Lafayette also released a name of people who still need to make burial plans.

A resolution passed on July 21 established a new path for the Lafayette Cemetery, offering a variety of options for existing plot owners, some of which include the following:
- Selling plots back for $3,500
- Keeping the plot for cremains burial, with the city covering the cost of one per plot
- Exchanging a plot for one at Coal Creek Cemetery along with a $2,000 refund
- Maintain for a future casket burial under a limited exception
The full resolution, referred to as Resolution No. 2026-18 is on the city’s website…
