UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Health care workers, union leaders and advocates rallied across the city on Thursday, calling for protections for immigrant caregivers and warning that the loss of workers could make staffing shortages worse.
“Immigrants are welcome here!” protesters chanted outside Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side, where workers gathered in support of colleagues affected by changes to immigration protections.

Roy McDonald, who has worked in food and nutrition at Lenox Hill Hospital for 10 years, said three of his colleagues are no longer working there after losing TPS-based work authorization.
“Now, they’re being sent back to their country, and it’s a devastating time for them, and we want to stand out here and show support for them,” McDonald said…
