A 35-year-old woman was assaulted on a southbound No. 5 subway train in the Bronx on April 9, suffering head injuries and triggering a police search for the person captured in surveillance photos. The incident unfolded as the train approached the East 138 Street–Grand Concourse station in Mott Haven. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries. The attacker took off on foot after the assault and has not been found.
What police say
According to the NYPD, as reported by PIX11, the confrontation started as a verbal dispute before the assailant moved in and hit the 35-year-old “multiple times in the head” with an unidentified blunt object. Investigators released surveillance images of a woman they are trying to identify, described as wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark pants and beige shoes at the time of the attack. Police said she ran off on foot and urged anyone with information, including video, to reach out.
