STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As the deadline to use new required trash bins in New York City approaches, the cans are becoming hard to find — so what happens if someone steals your NYC trash bin?
Starting June 1, New York City will require residential buildings with one to nine units — including one- and two-family homes, nonprofits and city agencies — to use officially designated rat-resistant trash containers for curbside collection, according to the city Department of Sanitation.
The bins, sold at Home Depot stores across New York City, are becoming increasingly difficult to find as the deadline comes closer.
