Lane closure on S.I. Korean War Veterans Parkway sparks traffic nightmare, with worst yet to come

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A heavily traveled stretch of the Korean War Veterans Parkway has been reduced to a single southbound lane, triggering miles of backups, driver frustration and safety concerns — with the worst of the construction still to come.

Throughout the summer, the reality of a single operable lane will plague drivers trying to head toward the South Shore of Staten Island or the Outerbridge Crossing.
