Staten Island man arrested after alleged road rage crash, hospital assault on 2 NYPD officers

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 41-year-old man was arrested for an alleged incident that included a road-rage crash in a parking lot in Port Richmond and an assault on two NYPD officers at a hospital.

The incident began when Matthew Katz of Elizabeth Street in West Brighton allegedly was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee in the 1300 block of Forest Avenue near Barrett Avenue on the morning of May 6, according to the criminal complaint and a law-enforcement source.

Katz was pulling into the parking lot of an outdoor mall while the victim was leaving. A dispute ensued about which driver cut the other off, and they yelled at each other through open car windows before driving away from the lot, according to the source…
