BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police seized 15 vehicles and issued 138 tickets for license plate violations on I-190 in Buffalo in May as part of the state’s ongoing battle against license plate fraud, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.
The tickets were issued on May 5 during a state police detail in Western New York. Western New York was one of three areas featured in the state-wide operation from New York State Police Troop T; police also held details in Albany and Hudson Valley.
Police issued a total of 262 tickets in Buffalo on May 5. Across the state, 515 tickets were issued for license plate violations over four operations. Owners of 38 vehicles that had suspended registrations owed $103,000 in unpaid tolls and fees, and the state has recovered more than $70,000 of that total so far.
