NY weather: Be prepared for dense fog in part of New York Sunday morning

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:08 a.m. on Sunday for dense fog until 8 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Erie, Genesee and Ontario counties.

“Local surface observations and webcams are showing areas of fog near Lake Ontario and the Niagara River this morning, as well as along I90 east of Buffalo. Areas of fog is also present between Lake Ontario and I81. Some of this fog will become locally dense, with visibilities down to a quarter of a mile at times. Fog is expected to dissipate an hour or two after sunrise. If driving this morning, allow extra time to reach your destination and be prepared for rapid changes to visibility,” describes the weather service.
