BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dozens of rescue animals arrived at Buffalo Niagara International Airport on a flight from Texas, marking the start of a seasonal effort by Western New York animal rescue organizations to relocate pets from overcrowded southern shelters.
A total of 37 animals, mostly dogs, along with a few cats, were transported more than 1,000 miles from shelters in Texas, where limited space and high intake rates continue to strain resources.
