Docs: Shooting on Indy’s east side led to man being paralyzed

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been charged after a reported shooting on the east side of Indianapolis led to an individual being paralyzed.

According to court documents recently filed in Marion County, Jason Simmons was charged with:

  • One count of aggravated battery – results in loss or impairment of a bodily function, a Level 3 felony
  • One count of pointing a firearm at another, a Level 6 felony

At around 11:26 p.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of North Linwood Avenue on a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, the documents said a “crime scene of blood, bullet holes and a fired bullet” was found in the kitchen area of the home. The victim was reportedly transported to a hospital in critical condition…
